Elizabethtown College’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies is providing frontline professionals with evidence-based strategies to build resilience, prevent burnout, and lead with intention through the recently launched Graduate Certificate in Resilience & Mindfulness for Professional Leadership.

“As professionals in education, healthcare, social services, and other frontline fields face unprecedented levels of stress, institutions of higher education have a responsibility to provide meaningful solutions,” Elizabethtown College Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies Dr. Marcy McCarty said. “This new graduate certificate equips professionals to reduce burnout and lead with greater compassion. The program reflects our commitment to educating leaders who not only excel in their professions but also sustain their capacity to serve others effectively.”

The program fulfills a growing need to address stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout among teachers, healthcare professionals, counselors, first responders, and other frontline professionals. Through online coursework and one hybrid weekend-intensive course, participants will build the self-awareness, stress-regulation skills, and emotional intelligence needed to navigate workplace challenges, strengthen their own well-being, and lead with presence.

“By combining mindfulness, neuroscience, and practical leadership development, we are preparing professionals to create healthier workplaces, stronger communities, and lasting positive impact,” McCarty said.

Designed for working professionals, the 12-credit program can be completed in as little as one year. Credits earned can be stacked into Etown’s M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, M.Ed. in Educational Leadership, or Post-Professional Doctorate of Occupational Therapy for a streamlined pathway to further education. Classes begin Oct. 19.
