Munia Kamal ’27
Elizabethtown College Civil Engineering major Munia Kamal ’27 has been awarded the 2025 Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Philadelphia Scholarship, recognizing her academic achievements, leadership, and commitment to advancing women in engineering.
“This scholarship is both encouraging and motivating as I continue pursuing my degree and career in engineering,” Kamal said. “It connects me to a network of inspiring women engineers and reinforces my commitment to designing with purpose.”
Kamal currently serves as President of Etown’s SWE chapter and has been actively involved in the group’s annual, community-centered events, including the annual Holiday Toy Hack-a-Thon. She also attended the national SWE conference last fall, where she gained leadership strategies and built confidence as a future engineer.
One of her favorite projects at Etown was designing an adjustable bowling ramp for students with disabilities, a hands-on experience that Kamal said reflected Etown Engineering’s motto to “Engineer for Society.”
The SWE Philadelphia Section Scholarship is awarded annually to students in the region who demonstrate strong academic performance, teamwork, leadership, scholarship, and a passion for pursuing engineering.
