On Oct. 25, 2019, the sprawling 81,900-square-foot Bowers Center for Sports, Fitness, and Well-Being – a dynamic campus hub that would go on to make a transformative impact on the health and well-being of the campus and surrounding communities, was dedicated.
The building was named in honor of longtime, generous supporters of the College, Kenneth L. ’59 H’99 and Rosalie E. ’58 Bowers.
The Bowers Center, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary, offers a holistic view of recreation and wellness for the campus community, including study spaces, a versatile fieldhouse with a Mondo track and a fitness center with 90 pieces of fitness equipment. It’s also home to a demonstration kitchen, a relaxation room with a nap pod, and multi-purpose classrooms.
Despite not operating at full capacity for nearly two years during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bowers Center has achieved more than 331,000 total building check-ins and continues to serve the campus community through its programs, which include intramurals, the Student Wellness Advocacy Group (SWAG), and a recently added personal training program.
Since its dedication, the Bowers Center has received national recognition by being awarded the prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification 2021 and being named a National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) Outstanding Facility Award Recipient in 2022.
