Elizabethtown College will be hosting the annual Relay for Life event, presented by Etown’s student-run division of the Colleges Against Cancer (CAC) organization, on Friday, Feb 23, from 4 to 10 p.m. in the Bowers Center Field House. This year’s theme will be “Give Cancer the Boot.”
The event is open to Etown students and those who want to attend can register online or at the door. A donation of $15 is required for entry with all proceeds donated to the American Cancer Society. A wristband will be given at check-in to all attendees who can come and go as they please during the event.
“This event will bring together the Elizabethtown College campus community to raise money and help support research toward finding a cure for cancer,” Bella Mendez, an officer in Etown’s Colleges Against Cancer organization said.
Community members will be sharing their cancer journey, while the event will also include student performances, raffles, an inflatable obstacle course, hair donation opportunities, a mechanical bull, a fitness class, and various tournaments throughout the evening. In addition, a luminaria lantern lighting ceremony will be held in the evening to honor those who were lost to cancer and those who are currently fighting cancer.
About Relay for Life
Relay for Life is a volunteer-led organization founded in 1987 that celebrates cancer survivors and caregivers, and honors those who have lost their lives to cancer. The money that is fundraised by students across the country will be used to help offer support to those in need by providing patients with 24/7 support, access to lifesaving screenings, and help support breakthrough research.
