Elizabethtown College’s School for Graduate and Professional Studies (SGPS) is offering professionals a pathway to enhance their careers in the educational sector by launching the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership and Graduate Certificate in Higher Education programs. Courses for both programs will begin in August 2024.

“Elizabethtown College and the School of Graduate and Professional Studies are proud to offer a modern-day advanced degree and graduate certificate that provides a cross-sector collaborative learning experience to address the challenges, expectations, and unpredictable future faced by educators and leaders,” Elizabethtown College Associate Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies Marcy McCarty said.

Master of Education in Educational Leadership

Etown’s Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership not only aligns with the current and future demands of the educational landscape but also equips educators with the leadership, administrative, and specialized skills necessary to navigate and influence this dynamic field effectively.

“The education landscape is evolving rapidly, and leaders in this industry now require a different skill set to see success in their organization,” McCarty said. “The Master of Education in Educational Leadership program empowers educators to explore innovative approaches to address challenges faced by leaders in the K-12 education system, industry training and development sectors, and higher education.”

The 33-credit advanced degree program provides educators with flexible options for meeting their career aspirations and becoming change agents in one of five concentration areas:

  • Educational Leadership
  • Higher Education
  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Trauma-Informed Leadership
  • Artificial Intelligence and Educational Technology Leadership
  • Educational Leadership and Principal’s Certificate Concentration

Graduate Certificate in Higher Education

Designed to meet a demand for skilled postsecondary teachers and training and development specialists, which is on the rise with projections indicating substantial job growth in these areas over the next decade, Etown’s Graduate Certificate in Higher Education equips future leaders and educators with the critical skills needed for excellence in various roles through one of the region’s most affordable programs.

“Etown’s Graduate Certificate in Higher Education provides an interdisciplinary learning experience where learners from various industries will understand the unique challenges faced by adult learners, gain best practices with different delivery models, and assess educational outcomes as it relates to the business’s return on investment,” McCarty said.

The four-course, 12-credit graduate certificate focuses on developing essential competencies for teaching and leadership, particularly for working with adult learners in various settings, including in-person, online, and hybrid learning environments. Integrating key aspects of equity and diversity into the curriculum, the program ensures graduates are prepared to create and lead inclusive educational settings, a necessity in today’s global educational landscape.

The program is offered as a stand-alone certificate and can be completed in less than a year.  All credits can also be stacked into Etown’s M.Ed. in Educational Leadership as well as the Doctorate of Occupational Therapy, providing a clear path to further education.
