Andrews’ project focused on creating training equipment for Alpha Bravo Canine service dogs, which he designed, planned, and built himself. Following their training, the dogs are sent to assist local veterans experiencing symptoms of PTSD and/or additional physical and psychological problems.
“The importance of service played an invaluable role in my planning and design process as I envisioned the impact that I wanted to create through this project,” Andrews said. “It was an absolute pleasure to work with Alpha Bravo Canine, and I look forward to planning and participating in similar projects in the future.”
Along with training equipment, Andrews also built a “puppy kissing booth” to help raise awareness and garner more attention for the organization at community events.
The project took 335 hours to complete, with the help of his self-assembled crew of 17 volunteers that consisted of family, friends, and fellow Eagle Scouts.
In addition to reaching Eagle Scout status, Andrews also held multiple positions with Troop 316, such as scribe, patrol leader, and senior patrol leader.
