The High Center at Elizabethtown College welcomed multigenerational leadership expert Haydn Shaw as the keynote speaker for a pair of events in its Leadership Speaker Series on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Elizabethtown College and on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at the Hyatt Place/Hyatt House in Allentown, Pa.

Hayden Shaw is the author of “Sticking Points, How to Get 5 Generations Working Together in the 12 Places They Come Apart” and for twenty-five years has helped managers and organizations raise their generational IQ so that they could more effectively lead a multigenerational workforce. With five generations in the workplace, each with its own set of distinctive characteristics, Shaw broke down how to communicate with, provide feedback for, and other insights or “sticking points” on the mindset of each generation.

“Our event with Haydn Shaw was our largest breakfast series event ever with over 250 executives and students in attendance,” Executive Director of The High Center Mike Mitchell said. “The High Center Leadership Speaker Series is a great opportunity for Elizabethtown College undergraduate and graduate students and executives from family and privately held businesses to get together to learn, network, and connect.”

The High Center’s Leadership Speaker Series offers its members and partners a variety of professional development events each year featuring renowned business leaders. From breakfast seminars to evening events, The High Center has developed unique programs with the specific goal of providing material and information that is useful in day-to-day activities as well as long-range planning for privately-held and family-owned businesses.

The next Leadership Speaker Series event will be held in conjunction with The High Center’s Business Forum on Wednesday, March 29 at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square in Lancaster, Pa. The Forum includes a half-day seminar featuring Afterburner, a team of current and former fighter pilots, U.S. Navy SEALs and other elite military professionals, focusing on strategic execution, strategy, and leadership, a networking dinner, and a keynote address by Steve ‘The Woz’ Wozniak, a Silicon Valley icon, technology entrepreneur and philanthropist. The Forum is open to both High Center members as well as members of the community.

Tickets for the Business Forum can be purchased through The High Center website.
