Elizabethtown College High Library Instruction and Outreach Librarian Joshua Cohen is working to promote the recent work of faculty, students, and staff to the Blue Jay community through a new library podcast, “The JayPod: A High Library Production.”
The JayPod will highlight the intellectual life of the College and feature Cohen engaging with Etown faculty, students, and staff about their scholarship, publications, and other research projects.
“There is no focus on any particular discipline or subject,” Cohen said. “I’ll be chatting with folks doing research and publishing in a variety of fields from religious studies to chemistry.”
The inaugural episode of The JayPod launched on Aug. 14 with Cohen interviewing Etown Assistant Director of Academic Advising, faculty member, and writer Curtis Smith. The two discussed writing and the artistic journey, Smith’s perspective as an author, the writer’s experience, and the appeal of the flash fiction genre.
Cohen hopes to post the next JayPod episode in late September, which will feature a conversation with History major Eric Schubert ’23 about his research and consultation with police to help solve a 57-year-old cold case through the use of genealogy.
The JayPod is available to download for free and is also accessible on popular podcast apps like Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and Spotify. Listeners are encouraged to subscribe to the podcast via their preferred podcast app to receive notifications on new episodes, which will be released monthly.
