Respected on and off the field through 20 years of service to the College, Kathy Staib helped lead not only the Elizabethtown College softball team but the entire Department of Athletics with dignity and passion. Staib recently announced she will leave the College to pursue a new opportunity.

“We would like to thank Kathy for her 20 years of service to our student-athletes, our Athletic Department, and the College,” said Elizabethtown College Director of Athletics Chris Morgan. “She has been an influential coach, administrator, and colleague, who has positively impacted the lives of our students. We wish her all the best moving forward.”

The longest-tenured coach in program history, Staib is the winningest coach in program history, compiling 219 wins overall. She led the team to runner-up finishes in the Commonwealth Conference in 2003 and the Landmark Conference in 2015. More importantly, Staib was able to touch thousands of lives, living the College motto every day, Educate for Service.

The longest-tenured coach in program history, Staib led Elizabethtown to back-to-back seasons of 20-wins or more in 2012 and 2013. Staib mentored the program’s first National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America selection, infielder Elly McCarthy ’13, along with 35 all-conference award winners, 14 all-region players, and two senior scholar-athletes, during her tenure with the Jays. She also guided 31 players to NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete distinctions and five of her teams have earned the NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Team award as well. Staib will forever be remembered for her dedication to Elizabethtown College.
