A multi-phased 83,000-square-foot renovation that joined together Musser and Esbenshade Halls with the newly-built Lyet Wing was officially completed with the dedication of the Masters Center for Science, Mathematics, and Engineering on Oct. 20, 2007.
The building was named for Frank M. Masters, Jr., a civil engineer who designed bridges including the Harvey Taylor Bridge in Harrisburg. A generous philanthropist, Masters gave a historic gift of $4 million toward the construction of the state-of-the-art building – good for the single largest contribution in the College’s history.
Masters was also an avid mineral collector and donated his large mineral collection to the College. Pieces from his collection are prominently featured in The Masters Mineral Gallery in the lobby of the Masters Center.
In addition to the world-class mineral gallery, the building contains classrooms, as well as a vast collection of cutting-edge laboratories, studios, and research spaces.
