The Professional Development Committee chose Mapp from nominations submitted by faculty peers. In addition to receiving a monetary award and a supplement to her professional development fund to support ongoing scholarly activity, Mapp will present a lecture on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at 11 a.m. in High Library.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/now.etown.edu\/files\/2019\/12\/Susan-Mapp.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-8330 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/now.etown.edu\/files\/2019\/12\/Susan-Mapp-e1576505223213.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"221\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.etown.edu\/files\/2019\/12\/Susan-Mapp-e1576505223213.jpg 220w, https:\/\/news.etown.edu\/files\/2019\/12\/Susan-Mapp-e1576505223213-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/news.etown.edu\/files\/2019\/12\/Susan-Mapp-e1576505223213-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 220px) 100vw, 220px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Congratulatory Statement from the<br \/>\n2019-2020 Ranck Prize Selection Committee:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Committee commended Dr. Mapp on her outstanding record of scholarship, including authorship of four books published by Oxford University Press, six book chapters, and 21 peer-reviewed publications. She has made a significant impact on her field publishing the textbook, <em>Human Rights and Social Justice in a Global Perspective: An Introduction to International Social Work<\/em>, soon to be in its third edition. Dr. Mapp has presented her research internationally and serves as the founding co-editor-chief of the <em>Journal of Human Rights and Social Work<\/em>. The committee noted her scholarship strongly ties into the college\u2019s values of social justice and human dignity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ranck Prize Background:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Robert O. Kerr \u201964 and Mary Ann Kerr \u201964 established the Ranck Prize for Research Excellence as a permanent endowment to award a full-time faculty member of Elizabethtown College and to commend and celebrate excellence in research and commitment to his or her field of study. The prize honors John P.
