The Partners in Peace Program, of which Etown was formally inducted in November 2025, aims to implement practices utilized by Nobel Peace Laureates in institutional curriculum to facilitate peacebuilding and harmony among individuals.

“The Partners in Peace congress was not simply an inspiring experience, it was a call to action,” Benowitz said. “I returned to Etown and redesigned an honors course from the ground up, built around the Nobel Peace Prize laureates and the conviction every student can begin the work of peacemaking in their own community. The initiative proves that honors education at its best does not simply study the world. It prepares students to change it.”

Benowitz addressed the congress in a formal presentation, highlighting Etown’s dedicated commitment to peacebuilding and social justice across curricular and co-curricular programming. He noted distinctive initiatives set forth by the College, including the launch of the Center for Global Understanding and Peacebuilding, the annual Ware Lecture series, and the Alumni Peace Fellowship.

Delegates were invited to attend a welcome reception at the Oslo City Hall, as well as tour sights including the Norwegian Parliament, Norwegian Royal Grounds, Norwegian Nobel Institute, and the Nobel Peace Center.

Benowitz also gave a presentation on how to employ the City as Text pedagogy for a tour of Oslo. City as Text is a notable pedagogical method of NCHC focused on thoughtful exploration and cross-cultural examination of cities around the world.

Benowitz is actively involved in the NCHC, serving on three committees as well as serving as a frequent presenter at the organization’s annual conference.
