The 12-month program offers a pathway for learners to become certified paramedics<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Elizabethtown College\u2019s School of Graduate and Professional Studies (SGPS) is offering certified EMTs and AEMTs an opportunity to advance their skills, expand their career opportunities, and make a greater impact during medical emergencies through the recently launched <\/span>Lancaster Consortium for Emergency Medicine Education (LCfEME) Professional Certificate in Paramedicine.<\/span><\/a> Courses begin May 11.<\/span><\/p>\n

Delivered in partnership with <\/span>Lancaster EMS<\/span><\/a>, this professional certificate program can be completed in as little as one year and prepares learners to lead with confidence in high-pressure, life-critical situations.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to partner with Lancaster EMS to continue emergency medical education in our region,\u201d Elizabethtown College Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies Marcy McCarty said. \u201cThis collaboration reflects Elizabethtown College\u2019s mission to educate students for service while expanding our academic portfolio to meet the evolving needs of the workforce and ensure our communities are served by highly skilled paramedics.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The 12-month, in-person program combines classroom instruction, hands-on skills labs, and more than 1,200 hours of clinical\/field experience led by highly qualified instructors, including experienced paramedics, registered nurses, and physicians.<\/span><\/p>\n

“This partnership represents an important step forward for both Lancaster EMS and the communities we serve,\u201d Richard Pearson, Director of Education at Lancaster EMS and Program Director at the LCfEME, said. \u201cBy working alongside Elizabethtown College, we will educate and shape future paramedics and give them the skills to save lives.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Students who complete the certificate will be eligible to take the <\/span>National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Paramedic Certification Exam<\/span><\/a> and may receive certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, International Trauma Life Support, or Pediatric Advanced Life Support.<\/span><\/p>\n

The program helps support a high-need occupation across the Commonwealth as the state projects continued expansion in the healthcare sector, including a 10.8% growth in Ambulatory Health Services by 2032, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).<\/span><\/p>\n
