After three years of AmeriCorps service, she began a career supporting college students in career services before leading career readiness efforts at a nonprofit for first-generation students. Today, she prepares individuals for AI-resilient careers in growing industries.

“My degree and my Etown experience gave me not only the knowledge but also the clarity of purpose to seek out roles where I can make a lasting difference.”

How has your career progressed since graduating from Etown?

Since graduating from Elizabethtown College in 2012, my career has taken a mission-driven path focused on education, equity, and workforce development. I began with three years of service through AmeriCorps, which grounded me in community-focused, hands-on work. I then spent over three years in higher education, supporting college students through career services. That experience led me to a college access and success nonprofit, where I built a comprehensive career readiness program for four years, helping first-generation, low-income students navigate their journey from internships to full-time jobs. During this time, I also earned a Master of Science in Higher Education, with a focus on education policy, from Drexel University in 2019, deepening my understanding of systems-level change and student support practices.

In 2022, I transitioned into the tech sector, joining a startup where I led a remote global career operations team, helping thousands of learners apply their technical training toward new and meaningful career paths. Most recently, I joined inSpring, a national workforce development leader and talent mobility springboard that connects and prepares individuals for high-impact, AI-resilient careers in healthcare, advanced manufacturing, energy, and other high-demand industries.

Across these roles, I’ve built a reputation as a results-oriented, mission-driven leader with 12+ years of experience spanning nonprofit, education, and tech environments. I specialize in designing equitable, learner-centered programs that empower underrepresented communities. By combining a data-driven mindset with a strong aptitude for technology, I strive to create impactful solutions that close opportunity gaps and support meaningful career journeys.

What was your experience at Elizabethtown College like? What were you involved in? (academics, athletics, clubs, etc.)

I was very involved during my time at Etown and sought out opportunities that aligned with my passion for leadership, service, and community. Some of my most meaningful experiences included:

Office of Admissions, Student Assistant Tour Guide and Trainer (4 years)

Spring Break & Winter Break Service Trips (3 years)

Called to Lead (4 years)

Peer Mentor (3 years)

Student Directed Learning Communities (2 years)

Washington Semester Program at American University (1 semester)

Elizabethtown College Honors Program, member

Emotion Dance Club (2 years)

Learning Services, Student Tutor (1 year)

Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, member

Alpha Kappa Delta, International Sociology Honor Society, member

Pi Sigma Alpha, National Political Science Honor Society, member

These experiences helped me grow personally and professionally, and many of them sparked the values I still hold close today: service, leadership, and lifelong learning.

How has your Etown degree benefited you and your success?

From participating in service trips twice a year, to living in a Student Directed Learning Community for two years, to joining Called to Lead and the Honors Program, Etown helped instill in me a lifelong passion for service and social impact. That ethos laid the foundation for my career. My degree and my Etown experience gave me not only the knowledge but also the clarity of purpose to seek out roles where I can make a lasting difference.

What is one piece of advice you have for current Blue Jays?

Say yes to opportunities, and immerse yourself in them. Your time at Etown is the perfect moment to get involved, take on leadership roles, and stretch beyond your comfort zone. The more you invest in your experiences, whether through clubs, service, internships, or academics, the more you’ll discover what drives you and how you can make an impact in the world. Don’t be afraid to try something new. Every opportunity is a chance to learn more about yourself and shape your future.

Elizabethtown College Political Science and Criminal Justice alumna Kelsie LeVan ’12 has dedicated her career to creating equitable opportunities for others.
