{"id":13223,"date":"2022-11-11T14:07:22","date_gmt":"2022-11-11T19:07:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.etown.edu\/?p=13223"},"modified":"2022-11-11T14:13:20","modified_gmt":"2022-11-11T19:13:20","slug":"elizabethtown-college-alumna-wins-philadelphia-museum-of-art-craft-show-excellence-in-design-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.etown.edu\/index.php\/2022\/11\/11\/elizabethtown-college-alumna-wins-philadelphia-museum-of-art-craft-show-excellence-in-design-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Elizabethtown College Alumna Wins Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show Excellence in Design Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Elizabethtown College alumna Kate Leibrand \u201911 was recently awarded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmacraftshow.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA) Craft Show\u2019s<\/a> Levitties Family Prize for Excellence in Design award.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A Fine Arts major during her time at Etown, Leibrand exhibited her award-winning work at the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmacraftshow.org\/about-the-show#about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">46th annual craft Show<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which took place from Nov. 11 to 13 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The Craft Show Committee selected winners in 13 categories, which were chosen from over 195 artists across 31 states.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmacraftshow.org\/artist\/fiber-decorative\/2022\/kate-leibrand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Leibrand creates textile-based artwork<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with large-scale repetitious patterning. Using mostly felt, her labor-intensive process includes cutting, painting, folding, stitching, gluing, and pinning thousands of fabric elements onto a substrate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>About the PMA Craft Show<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Now in its 46th year, the PMA Craft Show has raised over $14 million dollars over its long history.
