Elizabethtown College Honors Program student Jordyn Dutko ’26 recently received the prestigious National Collegiate Honors Council 2025 Student of the Year at a Four-Year Institution Award at the 60th Annual National Collegiate Honors Council Conference in November. The honor was in recognition of Dutko’s dedication to academic excellence, leadership, and service to others.
“I am incredibly grateful to be the recipient of this highly esteemed award while representing Etown’s Honors Program on the national stage,” Dutko said. “The encouragement and mentorship I have received over the last four years have been invaluable in pushing me to reach my full potential as a student and leader.”
Dutko, a History and Political Science major with minors in Public Heritage Studies and International Studies, has made significant contributions to the Etown Honors Program in various leadership roles.
“Jordyn’s dedication, professionalism, and vision have elevated every aspect of our Honors Program,” Elizabethtown College Professor of Political Science and Endowed Chair of International Studies and Director of the Honors Program, Dr. Oya Dursun-Özkanca, said. “Her impact on our Honors community will last long after her graduation.”
Serving as a peer-co teacher in the Honors Peer-Reading Seminar on Transatlantic Relations, Dutko honed her pedagogical skills by creating engaging interdisciplinary lessons, leading meaningful group discussions, and serving as a mentor to her fellow students.
Dutko’s contributions as an Etown Honors Program Student Assistant have been invaluable in fostering a close-knit intellectual community and reinvigorating the program in long-lasting ways.
She has been integral in organizing weekly Honors Thursday Sessions, which engage her peers through themed discussions featuring knowledgeable guest speakers. As a member of the student-run Etown Honors Council, she has thoughtfully organized various social events and orientation activities.
