Elizabethtown College recently launched the Make A Deposit, Make A Difference campaign for the sixth consecutive year. In the annual campaign, the College sets a goal of raising $20,000 through matching deposits made by first-year students who will enroll as members of the Class of 2029. A portion of every deposit made between Jan. 6 and April 12 will be matched and go toward establishing an endowed scholarship for future students.

“At Elizabethtown College, we are committed to making a difference by supporting others and breaking down barriers to ensure every student has access to a transformative Etown experience,” Elizabethtown College President Betty Rider said. “Our Make a Deposit, Make A Difference campaign makes meaningful strides in opening doors for students and creating a lasting impact.”

Thanks to the College’s Million Dollar Match campaign and additional donor support, $30,000 will be added to create a $50,000 endowed Class of 2029 Scholarship.

The Million Dollar Match is the most significant fundraising match in the institution’s history. Through a generous $500,000 challenge fund provided by donors Bob Dolan, David Hosler ’72, Jan Lane ’75, Ed Lovelidge ’82, Jim Shreiner ’73, G’24, and the estate of the late Martin Heilman ’63, the campaign matches new $25,000 scholarship commitments, dollar for dollar, to create $1 million in funding to support student scholarships.

The Class of 2029 Scholarship will be awarded each year, in perpetuity, to students with demonstrated financial need. Once the endowment is fully funded, a minimum of approximately $2,500 will be awarded annually. As the endowment grows so will the scholarship amount being awarded.

“At Etown, we are an active, engaged, and empathetic community that cares deeply about serving others,” Elizabethtown College Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communications Keri Straub said. “By offering this added incentive to students when they are deciding where to continue their educational journey, we are not only introducing them to our Educate for Service motto, but we are also providing them with an opportunity to support future Blue Jays.”

Elizabethtown College launched the Make a Deposit, Make a Difference campaign in 2020. The effort aligns with the College’s motto Educate for Service, which was adopted in 1915. Educate for Service expresses the campus community’s belief that the pursuit of knowledge is most noble when used to benefit others.

Elizabethtown College will hold three Accepted Student Day events on Feb. 15, March 15, and April 12 where students will learn more about the College and connect with faculty, staff, and students. Students can also make their deposits toward the Make a Deposit, Make a Difference campaign.
