Elizabethtown College’s Center for Global Understanding and Peacebuilding (CGUP) will host the Director of the nonprofit organization, the New Community Project (NCP), David Radcliff for the annual Peace Fellow Lecture on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. on campus in the Susquehanna Room, Myer Hall.

Radcliff, the 2024 Elizabethtown College Peace Fellow, will present his lecture, “Earthkeeping as Peacemaking: EarthCare is Critical for Reducing Conflict and Ensuring Human Rights and Dignity Now and into the Future” which centers on the confluence of peacemaking and environmental care. The event is free and open to the public.

“We are excited to partner with the Elizabethtown College Peace Fellowship to host David Radcliff as the 2025 Peace Fellow,” Elizabethtown College Director of CGUP, Dr. Shannon Haley-Mize said. “This lecture will be a compelling dialogue on the intersections of earthcare and peacebuilding. I am confident that participants will leave feeling inspired and empowered to contribute to a more environmentally sustainable world.”

The NCP is a small non-profit organization that offers resources and fosters a community focused on environmental sustainability and social justice. With a national network of more than 11,000 people, the NCP puts its ideals into action through partnerships with grassroots groups across the world.

Also serving as an adjunct faculty member at Elizabethtown College’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies, Radcliff teaches in the areas of environmental ethics, hunger and poverty, and globalization. He holds a Doctor of Ministry in Peace Studies and has previously served as the director of peace, environmental, and hunger programs for the Church of the Brethren General Board.

Radcliff follows in a tradition of esteemed Peace Fellows at Elizabethtown College as each year, the College hosts a several-day residency of a peace scholar. The lecture is sponsored by the Elizabethtown College Peace Fellowship in conjunction with the CGUP.
