American folk musician David Wilcox

Elizabethtown College’s Bowers Writers House will host revered American folk musician David Wilcox for an evening of music and storytelling on campus on Friday, Nov. 1 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. in the Master’s Center’s Gibble Auditorium.

General admission tickets to this event are $18 and a limited number of free tickets are available for Etown students and employees. Registration is required to attend.

“David Wilcox is simply one of the most exciting and passionate singer-songwriters touring today,” Elizabethtown College Director of Bowers Writers House and Community Impact, Jesse Waters said. “I’m proud that Elizabethtown College and the Bowers Writers House have the opportunity to showcase his immense talent for both our campus and surrounding communities!”

One of America’s most beloved folk artists, Wilcox has released more than 20 albums that have resonated with a dedicated core of fans and earned praise from national publications such as the New York Times and Rolling Stone throughout a storied 30-plus-year career.

The Ohio native with a warm baritone won top honors in the 2018 USA Songwriting Competition for “We Make the Way by Walking” from his album, “The View From the Edge,” and today, he performs new songs from his latest album, “My Good Friends.”

“I’m looking forward to coming to play at Elizabethtown College,” Wilcox said. “I have been enjoying fresh inspiration this fall and I’ll have some brand new songs to sing.”

Wilcox found his artistic muse in North Carolina during the mid-1980s and released his debut album, “The Nightshift Watchman” in 1987. This led to winning the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival in 1988 and a four-album stint with A&M Records, starting with 1989’s, “How Did You Find Me Here,” which sold 100,000 copies by word of mouth.
