Elizabethtown College recently announced the line-up of speakers for its 2024-25 Lecture Series, one of the region’s most notable programs. 

Continuing a rich tradition of hosting speakers who provide audiences with the opportunity to be enlightened, engaged, and entertained, this year’s series is open to the public and features three internationally-known and remarkable individuals including:

Winona LaDuke, Native American Activist, Environmentalist, and Author | Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. |  Leffler Chapel & Performance Center, Elizabethtown College

Lecture Topic: The Green Path Ahead: Indigenous Teachings for the Next Economy

A two-time U.S. Vice President candidate for the Green Party, Winona LaDuke is an economist, environmentalist, and writer known for her work on tribal land claims and preservation, along with her commitment to sustainability. Learn more.

Lecture Topic: Why We Need to De-Criminalize Poverty

Founder of Starting Right, Now (SRN), a pioneering nonprofit that provides social and health services to unhoused students in Florida, Victoria Sokolik authored the 2024 book, “If You See Them: Unhoused and Alone in America,” which explores the largely unrecognized crisis of homeless youth in America. Nadia Murad, Human Rights Advocate and Nobel Peace Laureate | Thursday, April 10 at 7 p.m. |  Leffler Chapel & Performance Center, Elizabethtown College

Lecture Topic: Nadia’s Initiative: Rebuilding Communities, Protecting Survivors

Human rights activist and recipient of the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize, Nadia Murad is a leading advocate for survivors of genocide and sexual violence, and author of the New York Times bestselling memoir, “The Last Girl: My Story of Captivity, and My Fight Against the Islamic State.” Learn more.

Celebrating Educate for Service Award Recipients

This year’s Lecture Series will also include the recognition and celebration of the 2024-25 Educate for Service Award honorees, who will each be honored at a lecture in the series. The Educate for Service Awards are the highest honors bestowed upon alumni by Elizabethtown College and the Elizabethtown College Alumni Association.
