On April 22, 2008, Elizabethtown College hosted the first Scholarship and Creative Arts Day (SCAD), an initiative designed to encourage collaboration between students and faculty and showcase students’ talents.

The first SCAD featured special guest Bill Nye serving as the keynote speaker. Nye is a scientist who gained popularity with his show, “Bill Nye the Science Guy, which aired on PBS from 1993-97. At the first SCAD, 21 Biology students presented posters showcasing the research they completed with faculty mentors.

Today, SCAD has grown to include every discipline across the College and extends from poster presentations and academic research to showcasing the creative arts through recitals and a juried art exhibit. Learn more about SCAD.
