A beloved campus tradition since 1974, Thank Goodness It’s Spring (TGIS) weekend is a campus-wide celebration of the arrival of spring and an opportunity for students to enjoy outdoor activities in the warmer weather.

The event, sponsored by the Office of Student Activities (OSA), originally began as a replacement for May Day activities but has since evolved into a weekend-long event with a new theme each year and  features performances by student groups and outside artists and performers. The weekend culminates with an all-day festival on Brinser Field featuring activities like bounce houses, yard games, and other activities, with an array of food and desserts for students.

Etown marked the 50th anniversary of TGIS in 2024 with a celebration that included free t-shirts, yard games, a petting zoo, and other activities. This year’s TGIS celebration will be held on the weekend of April 26-27.
