As we celebrate Elizabethtown College’s 125th anniversary, we’re sharing the favorite stories of our alumni, students, staff, and faculty during their time at Etown. Whether it’s a funny anecdote from your dorm days, a moment of mentorship from a class or professor, or a standout experience from a campus event, these stories submitted by members of the Blue Jay community not only commemorate the rich history of our institution but also serve as a reminder of the lasting impact that Elizabethtown College has had on the lives of so many individuals.

As I scrolled through my old photos, albums, and social media to find a favorite picture, I realized that not one single picture could emulate the memories provided by Elizabethtown College. Memories of the “big” things like the First-Year Walk, the Tree-Lighting ceremony that followed Thanksgiving dinner, attending my first Marshmallow Game, my first swim meet, and the many concerts flashed in my mind, but so did the “little” things. The unspoken and unassigned-assigned tables in the Marketplace, a usual order at the Blue Bean, smelling chocolate in the air as I walked between classes, or even just the simplicity and luxury that was knowing everybody’s name or being welcomed back to campus with a “welcome home.” All of the little and big things added up to an experience that can never be replicated. The Office’s Andy Bernard said it best, “I wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days before you’ve actually left them.”
