Wes Bricker ’00 with his wife, Cindy

Meet Wes Bricker ’00, an Accounting alumnus and current Global Assurance Leader at PwC, a world-leading professional services network that helps clients create value through quality assurance, tax, and advisory services. Bricker was named to Accounting Today’s 2023 Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting list and is a current member of Etown’s President’s Leadership Council.

“Etown’s commitment to its motto, Educate for Service, instills a sense of ethical responsibility and community-mindedness. This focus on service and ethical leadership shaped my choice to work at one of the world’s largest accounting and professional services firms.”

What defined your Etown experience?

The lasting friendships were a cornerstone of my Etown experience. These relationships have extended beyond graduation, becoming lifelong connections. Involvement in the pulse of the campus as an RA (Founders D-2!) and through other clubs helped in building leadership skills and also helped create a sense of belonging and personal growth.

How has your Etown degree benefitted you and your career success?

My education and experience had a profound impact on my career. The Accounting program was rigorous and helped prepare me with critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. The emphasis on education for service – a purpose-led, values-oriented liberal arts education, also helped shape my adaptability in a professional services career. Etown’s focus on experiential learning also contributed to my success, including an internship from which I benefitted enormously. It helped me demonstrate both knowledge and real-world application when entering the job market.

How have you made a difference in the lives of others through your career and/or personal life?

Etown’s commitment to its motto, Educate for Service, instills a sense of ethical responsibility and community-mindedness. This focus on service and ethical leadership shaped my choice to work at one of the world’s largest accounting and professional services firms. We live out our purpose of building trust in society and solving important problems. Accounting is a field that requires a strong moral compass and a commitment to making a positive impact — all of which I was introduced to at Etown.

What is your passion? Where do you place your energy besides your career?

Family is my passion. My wife, Cindy, and I are blessed with three children – nine-year-old twins and a 12-year-old. We love traveling, especially to Asia.
