Recently, Elizabethtown College’s School of Graduate & Professional Studies (SGPS) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Widener University to offer a seamless and advantageous transition for psychology graduates seeking a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Counseling Psychology.

“We’re so excited to partner with Widener University to make a smooth transition for their psychology students to complete a Master’s in Counseling Psychology at Elizabethtown College,” Elizabethtown College Program Director, Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, Dr. Elizabeth Dalton said.”There is a significant and pressing need for mental health professionals regionally and more broadly. Students participating in the partnership between Widener University and Elizabethtown College will be well-equipped to address this need and fulfill our institutional motto of Educate for Service.”

Through this partnership, Widener University psychology graduates, with preference given to those within two years of graduation, who earned at least a 3.0 undergraduate GPA will receive direct consideration for admission into Etown’s M.A. in Counseling Psychology program.

The MOU also provides Widener University graduates with the following benefits:

  • A 15% tuition discount on all coursework taken in Etown’s M.A. in Counseling Psychology program
  • Waived application fee ($50) for Widener University psychology graduates
  • Straightforward admissions process
  • Ability to participate in special information sessions and receive enriched support through our collaborative initiatives

Etown’s M.A. in Counseling Psychology program is designed to prepare highly skilled mental health practitioners to integrate evidence-based practices and multicultural competencies into a career in counseling. Students have the opportunity to specialize in Child & Adolescent Counseling, Substance Use Counseling, or a Generalist Concentration, which all allow students to develop a focus of clinical expertise in addition to their generalist training.
