Elizabethtown College recently launched the Make A Deposit, Make A Difference campaign for the fifth consecutive year. In the annual campaign, the College matches deposits made by first-year students who will enroll as members of the Class of 2028. The matching period to make deposits begins Jan. 8 and runs through March 16. The College has set a goal of $15,000 and will donate its proceeds to Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity (LLHH).
“Elizabethtown College is committed to being an anchor and partner institution in our region,” Elizabethtown College President Betty Rider said. “The Make a Deposit, Make A Difference campaign introduces our newest students to our Educate for Service mission well before they take their first course at Etown and is a way for our College to lift our community.”
Elizabethtown College launched the Make a Deposit, Make a Difference campaign in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The effort aligns with the College’s motto Educate for Service, which was adopted in 1915. Educate for Service expresses the campus community’s belief that the pursuit of knowledge is most noble when used to benefit others.
“Selecting where you’ll attend college is an important moment and we’re so excited to be able to offer this additional incentive, which allows our students to make a societal impact in a meaningful way,” Elizabethtown College Vice President for Marketing, Communications, and External Relations Keri Straub said.
Elizabethtown College partnered with Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity because of its mission to support families in need of safe, warm, and affordable homes. The College has partnered with Habitat in previous years, offering students opportunities to participate in service-trip building projects. As a part of the donations made through the Make a Deposit, Make a Difference campaign, incoming students will also have the opportunity to participate in the Habitat home build in Lancaster County that the funds support, once they officially enroll in the fall of 2024.
“Etown and Habitat have partnered for years in our pursuit to provide greater access to affordable homeownership opportunities for local families,” Habitat CEO and President Andrew Szalay said. “Through hundreds of volunteer hours on our build sites, students have rolled up their sleeves to make a difference in the lives of others. We’re grateful for the College’s commitment to service.”
Elizabethtown College will hold three Accepted Student Day events on Feb. 10, March 16, and April 13 where students will learn more about the College and connect with faculty, staff, and students. Students can also make their deposits toward the Make a Deposit, Make a Difference campaign.
