Elizabethtown College Engineering majors Natalie Barlow ’24 and Madison Stewart ’25 recently earned scholarships for their dedication to their field of study.

Natalie Barlow ’24

Natalie Barlow ’24 – Women in Technology Scholarship, presented by the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania

Barlow is a Mechanical Engineering major and president of Etown’s chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). The Women in Technology Scholarship is awarded to encourage women to continue excelling in technology-related disciplines. She was recognized at the Women in Technology Awards at the WITF Media Center in Harrisburg this past September.

“Etown Engineering has broadened my horizons not only through an engaging curriculum but also via hands-on projects and immersive experiences,” Barlow said. “Being the president of SWE allows me to help others navigate their engineering experience and support the incoming generations of women in engineering through SWE events.”

After graduation, Barlow plans to attend graduate school to obtain her master’s in engineering with the goal of contributing to cancer research and improving technology in the medical field.

Madison Stewart ’25

Madison Stewart ’25 – Philadelphia Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Scholarship

Stewart is an Electrical Engineering major with a minor in Communications and is the secretary for Etown’s SWE chapter. The Philadelphia SWE Scholarship is awarded to participants who demonstrate teamwork, leadership, and personal motivations in the field of engineering. She will be recognized at the annual Philadelphia SWE Awards celebration on April 15 in Philadelphia.

“The extracurriculars at Etown give me first-hand experience on the proper ethics and skills required for engineering,” Steward said. “Since I’m the secretary for SWE, it’s given me the ability to gain leadership and management skills through the internships and scholarships this program provides.”

After graduation, Stewart plans to seek an engineering position within live entertainment.
