Elizabethtown College has been ranked in several notable categories in the 2023-24 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges lists including being named 39th (fifth in Pennsylvania) out of 167 institutions in the Regional Universities (North) list. 

Etown also earned a high mark on the Best Value Schools list by ranking 11th, while also being recognized for the institution’s strong commitment to undergraduate teaching by placing sixth on the Best Undergraduate Teaching Programs among Regional Universities (North) list.

“This year’s U.S. News & World Report rankings continue to demonstrate our commitment to providing students a dynamic and relevant education through strong academic offerings and guaranteed, high-impact learning experiences that prepare them to lead purposeful and productive careers,” Elizabethtown College President Betty Rider said.

Etown’s innovative Engineering program received high marks as well, ranking #69 (tie) in the nation and fourth in the state of Pennsylvania among undergraduate programs (no doctorate), jumping 18 spots from last year’s ranking. Designed to prepare students for a technical career in the workforce or for graduate school, Etown’s Engineering program challenges students to become innovators of the future through personal attention from innovative and award-winning faculty mentors and hands-on experience in design and fabrication laboratories.

In its 39th year, the U.S. News & World Report rankings evaluate more than 1,450 colleges and universities on up to 19 key measures of academic quality. In all Elizabethtown College was recognized for the following:

  • Best Regional Universities (North): #39 (Tie)
  • Best Value Schools (Regional Universities – North): #11
  • Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs – No Doctorate: #69 (Tie)
  • Social Mobility Among Regional Universities (North): #149
  • Best Undergraduate Teaching Programs (Regional Universities – North): #6 (Tie)

This year, Elizabethtown College launched additional high-demand programs such as an Asian Studies major, an Integrative Studies major, a Pre-physical Therapy concentration in Exercise Science, and an Environmental Studies minor. These new offerings add to already sought-after programs such as Occupational Therapy, Engineering, Biology, Business, Education, Humanities, Psychology, and Political Science.

U.S. News publishes the Best Colleges rankings each year to provide prospective students and their families with helpful data and information on factors such as graduation rates, social mobility, and graduate indebtedness.
