Dr. Kadee Crandall, Elizabethtown College Program Director and Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice

Recently, Elizabethtown College appointed Dr. Kadee Crandall as Program Director and Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve in the role of Program Director and Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice,” Dr. Crandall said. “As a native of Elizabethtown, I am excited to have the opportunity to grow the program by building and strengthening educational, cultural, and social relationships within both the College and surrounding community.”

Having previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at Kutztown University from 2016-21, Crandall holds an active research agenda in a variety of topics, exploring the challenges faced by female police officers and families of police officers, along with delving into experiential learning opportunities. Previously, she has been published in peer-reviewed criminal justice journals on experiential learning opportunities, neighborhood revitalization, and the legal needs of crime victims.

“Dr. Crandall brings to the position an impressive record of establishing partnerships with community organizations and government agencies to create experiential learning opportunities for students,” Elizabethtown College Dean of the School of Public Service and Professor of Political Science, April Kelly said. “We are excited for her to lead our growing criminal justice program, where her student-centered approach and civic-minded instruction clearly enrich the College’s commitment to public service.”

Crandall aims to enhance Etown’s forward-thinking Criminal Justice program by preparing students for their future career and academic goals by offering quality courses, experiential learning opportunities, and hands-on faculty mentorship that focuses on policing, courts, corrections, and victim services.

“The real-world experiences Etown provides will enhance student understanding of the criminal justice system in both academia and criminal justice careers,” explained Crandall. “These opportunities will create highly respected and educated professionals to succeed in the field of criminal justice or pursuit of higher education.”

Crandall earned her Ph.D. in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University in 2016 and completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice from Penn State Harrisburg.
