The Elizabethtown College School of Business welcomed the semester’s final Mars Wrigley Lecture series speaker, Robert Rigg ’ 74, on Friday, April 14.

Since 1986, Rigg has served as President of The Rigg Darlington Group (since retired), a nationally honored insurance and risk management brokerage firm with offices in Exton and Reading. Rigg currently serves on the resource and development committees of both the Greater Brandywine Y and Good Works Inc.

In his lecture, “Creating A Culture of Immediacy: In Your Organization and Your Life,” Rigg reflected on his time at Etown the lessons he learned in his career to become a successful business leader. He encouraged students to start preparing for their futures by implementing business leadership principles into their real lives.

“The best way to be a strong team leader is to put it into practice now,” Rigg said.

Rigg offered practical career leadership advice to the Blue Jays in attendance and spoke of the many ways to build a better workplace culture through effective leadership.

“When you’re running a team, making a decision quick is good leadership, but even better leadership is admitting when you made a mistake,” Rigg said.

Rigg is dedicated to giving back to Etown students through the Rigg Family Chester County Futures Scholarship. Established in 2018, this scholarship provides full room, board, and tuition for up to eight semesters, to one underrepresented or first-generation student from either Chester or Berks counties each year that attends Elizabethtown College.
