Elizabethtown College Assistant Director of Academic Advising, Curtis Smith, recently published two short stories, “This Heart” in New World Writing and “A List by Curtis Smith” in New Flash Fiction Review.

Both stories focus on the darker aspects of love, touching upon themes such as expectation, loss, and regret.

“Publishing means much less than process,” Smith said. “What I enjoy is the sitting down to work on a new piece. Publication is nice—and validating—but the real gift of creating art is the engagement it offers.”

Smith has published over 125 stories and essays in literary journals and magazines. Both stories are part of his current cycle of short fiction works.

Smith also has coming works in West Branch and The Maine Review.

“I hope my readers will feel respected—and feel that the time they put into reading my work was worth it,” Smith said.
