The former senior advisor to President Barack Obama will headline this year’s Ware Lecture to round out the College’s 2022-23 Lecture Series
Elizabethtown College welcomes New York Times Best-Selling Author and CEO of the Barack Obama Foundation Valerie Jarrett for the 2023 Ware Lecture on Thursday, April 13, at 7 p.m. in Leffler Chapel and Performance Center on campus. Jarrett will address the crowd with insights from her book, Finding My Voice: My Journey to the West Wing and the Path Forward, published in April 2019.
The Ware Lecture is free and open to the public and registration is required.
Valerie Jarrett is the Chief Executive Officer and a member of the board of directors of the Barack Obama Foundation. She is also a Senior Distinguished Fellow at The University of Chicago School of Law.
Jarrett served as Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017, making her the longest-serving advisor to a president in history. She oversaw the Offices of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs and Chaired the White House Council on Women and Girls. Jarrett currently serves as the Board Chairman of Civic Nation, Co-Chair of The United State of Women, and is a One Million Black Women Advisory Board Member.
Jarrett has also received numerous awards and honorary degrees, including TIME’s “100 Most Influential People” Award. She received her B.A. from Stanford University in 1978 and her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1981.
