Elizabethtown College’s Family Business and Entrepreneurship (FBE) program was well-represented at a pair of prominent family business events, which were attended this fall by Blue Jay students and faculty.
A group of six students pursuing an FBE minor attended the 2022 Families in Business Conference, hosted by Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business on Oct. 27-28.
“This was such a great learning and networking opportunity and a true celebration of family businesses,” Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Management and the Director of the Family Business and Entrepreneurship Program at Elizabethtown College Petru Sandu said. “I’m very proud of my students as they were engaging, asking wonderful questions during the conference, and were truly professional.”
The eighth annual conference brought students, leaders from a diverse range of businesses, and the collective wisdom of leading academics and practitioners for an in-person celebration of all things family business.
On Nov. 4-5, Sandu went on to serve as a judge at the First Cornell Case Competition for Family Ownership, which was held at Cornell Tech in New York City. The intense, two-day competition brought together several top MBA students from around the nation, where they tackled a complex, live case study of a highly successful Brazilian family business, Cosan.
At the conclusion of the competition, Sandu was honored with the Judges Award, which was based on student votes.
“This was a great honor for me and such a fantastic opportunity to network, learn, and assess teams of intelligent students,” Sandu said.
