Elizabethtown College Professor of Political Science Fletcher McClellan has been named to City & State Pennsylvania’s Top Fifty Over 50 list of the most distinguished public servants in the Keystone State.

The recognition is reserved for honorees who are committed to making Pennsylvania a better place. This prestigious list includes Pennsylvania’s most prominent leaders in government, business, media, and beyond over the age of 50.

McClellan is appearing in the special October issue of City & State PA Magazine and will be honored at the upcoming 2022 PA Fifty Over 50 celebration on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in Philadelphia. Tickets for the event are available for purchase.

“I was really surprised and honored to be named,” McClellan said. “My achievements are reflected only in the successes of my former students, for which I claim no credit. Thanks to the College and the people who have made Etown a great place to work, and to the media outlets who have given me opportunities to share my views on current and historical events.”

A member of the Etown faculty for more than 40 years, McClellan has served in many leadership roles at the College, including Dean of Faculty from 2010 to 2016, Interim Provost on two occasions, and department chair.

An award-winning teacher of public policy, McClellan was honored in 2020 with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Political Science Education section of the American Political Science Association. The College awarded him the Kreider Prize for Teaching Excellence in 2020.

McClellan has been a long-time, trusted voice in offering fresh insight into Pennsylvania’s political landscape, both on campus, as a regular contributor for the Pennsylvania Capital-Star,  and as a commentator for WITF-FM, the Pennsylvania Cable Network, and LancasterOnline.
