Elizabethtown College alumni Courtney Box ’14 and Dan Mallinson ’08 were named to City & State Pennsylvania magazine’s “Forty Under 40” list of young changemakers.
The Forty Under 40 awards honor Central PA leaders under the age of 40 who share a common drive to improve fellow Pennsylvanians’ lives through their words and deeds. They are selected by an outside panel of judges and previous winners.
Courtney Box ’14 – Corporate Communications (SGPS)
Box currently serves as an Associate Services Manager at the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors, where she guides five local realtor associations in Western Pennsylvania and is in charge of strategic planning, leadership training, fundraising, administrative affairs and advocacy.
She credits her Elizabethtown College education as an aid in her successful career.
“My education at Etown has absolutely helped me in my professional life,” Box said. “The professors I had were extremely knowledgeable and down-to-earth. The education was top-notch. My professors were actually out working in the industry so they were able to provide real examples of what working in our fields would be like, which was a great help.”
Dan Mallinson ’08 – Political Science
Mallinson currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Public Policy and Administration at Penn State Harrisburg. He’s the go-to expert for Pennsylvania reporters or city agencies who have questions about the implications of public policy.
Under his guidance, Penn State public policy students have worked with the City of Harrisburg to analyze topics ranging from a new comprehensive plan to coping with severe weather.
In addition to his role at Penn State Harrisburg, Mallinson serves as the second Vice President of the Pennsylvania Political Science Association and has two books awaiting release.
