Elizabethtown College alumna Amy Beamer Murray ’90 was recently honored by the Central Penn Business Journal as a 2022 Circle of Excellence designee as part of its annual Women of Influence awards.
To qualify for the Circle of Excellence recognition, individuals are required to have been awarded the title Woman of Influence twice before.
Murray is currently the COO at Pavone Marketing Group (PMG) in Harrisburg. She credits her experiences at Etown, where she majored in Business Administration, with helping her build a strong foundational understanding of numerous areas in the business field.
“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t use some piece of knowledge that I first learned at Etown – especially accounting,” Murray said. “As a student employee in the College Relations department, I learned a great deal about public relations and professional writing from then assistant director Art George ’84.”
Individuals inducted into the Circle of Excellence are recognized for their long-standing contributions to their community while leading the way for other women in the industry.
“From an early age, I was encouraged to volunteer in my community,” Murray said. “Being recognized by the Central Penn Business Journal as a member of the Circle of Excellence is a nod to my volunteer efforts over the past three decades. Seeing what my fellow honorees have accomplished in the community is humbling… and makes me want to do more!”
Murray’s volunteer work includes her past service on the boards of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, the ARC of Dauphin and Lebanon Counties, and the Central Pennsylvania chapter of Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership. She has also volunteered in the classroom for Junior Achievement and served as a speaker for several colleges, universities, and women’s groups.
Currently, Murray is the president of the board of Caitlin’s Smiles, a non-profit organization that works to bring arts and crafts supplies to children in medical facilities, in addition to her work on the strategy committee of Girl Scouts at the Heart of PA.
