A pair of Elizabethtown College alumni were recently elected to serve on the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Board of Governors – the governing body of the Pennsylvania Bar.
Paul Edger ’08 became the immediate past chair of the PBA Young Lawyers Division, which consists of lawyers under the age of 40 and lawyers who have practiced for under 10 years regardless of age, while alumna Jennifer Galloway ’06 took on the role of chair-elect. Edger’s role as immediate past chair marks the conclusion of his role as chair of the YLD, a position he held for the 2021-2022 term.
“Etown offered me amazing opportunities and leadership skills, from Mock Trial (which every day now is Mock Trial in real life) to political debates in Professor Fletcher McClellan’s class that really opened my eyes to opposing sides, and was a very helpful tool in becoming a trial attorney,” Edger said.
Galloway’s experience at Etown was similarly positive. Like Edger, Galloway also participated in Mock Trial, in addition to cheerleading and weekend dances.
“I came to Etown from a small school, small family, and small town but never really had what I would describe as a sense of community,” Galloway said. “I felt part of a community for the first time, very quickly at Etown. By feeling comfortable, I was able to excel and grow academically, socially, and as a person.”
Edger and Galloway’s connection through their Etown experiences has given them a strong foundation for their leadership together.
“Jenn is a talented and motivated attorney, and I know her time serving the YLD will go far,” Edger said. “We only shared one year together on campus, but always have those memories of campus and professors we both had.”
As the year progresses, the two continue to work toward encouraging young lawyers through their work on the board and beyond.
“Working alongside Paul, a fellow Blue Jay and predecessor in the YLD world, has been enjoyable and helpful,” Galloway added. “I have enjoyed learning more about Paul’s experiences at Etown and how they are similar and different to my own.
“I look forward to continuing to work with Paul in years to come and welcome any current student of the College to reach out to me if they are interested in becoming a lawyer!”
