Elizabethtown College’s first summer graduate classes of its new Physician Assistant (PA) Degree Program will commence this July. The new program, which is designed to meet the needs of 21st-century learners in a rapidly growing field, will provide in-depth education and experience for students in a range of primary care and specialized health care settings.

“We’re committed to providing future Physician Assistants with a patient-centered education that uses the art of medicine and integrates the mission to educate for service,” Elizabethtown College Physician Assistant Program Director Dionna Rookey said. “The Etown PA program provides a comprehensive curriculum that incorporates hands-on learning with a multidisciplinary team in program dedicated laboratories.”

Physician Assistants work closely and collaboratively with doctors and other medical professionals to provide additional care to their patients. In rural or underserved areas, PAs are typically the first line of medical care. Here are the top three things to know about Etown’s exciting new program:

A Comprehensive Curriculum for a Rapidly Growing Profession

Employment of physician assistants is projected to grow 31% between 2020 and 2030! Etown’s PA program helps to meet this need by educating future health care providers through a comprehensive curriculum that incorporates hands-on learning in state-of-the-art laboratories.

Two Pathways, One Outcome

Etown provides two options to meet students where they are at in their educational journey either through first-year entry or direct entry as a student into the Physician Assistant bachelor/master’s degree program or the stand-along master’s degree program in Physician Assistant Studies.

A Deeply Transformational Education

The Etown PA program’s mission aligns with that of the College, that education is long-lasting and far-reaching because it is deeply transformational while ensuring that students are equipped with an education that is centered on service and integrates interdisciplinary learning.
