Elizabethtown College announced the hiring of Dr. Kesha Morant Williams as the Senior Advisor for Diversity, Equity, and Belonging at Elizabethtown College. Dr. Williams will begin her new appointment on July 1.
“With more than 20 years of academic and programmatic experience, Dr. Williams will be a true asset as we work to fulfill our strategic initiatives and grow toward inclusive excellence at Etown,” Elizabethtown College President Betty Rider said.
Dr. Williams will report directly to the president and will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), overseeing the institution’s diversity, equity, and belonging efforts and goals in alignment with the Office of Diversity, Equity & Belonging. In addition, she will oversee the Campus Inclusion Committee (CIC).
She arrives at Etown from Penn State Berks where she worked as an Associate Professor of Communication Arts & Sciences. Her campus involvement with diversity, equity, and belonging led to notable opportunities throughout the university, professional organizations, and the community. She is an active member of the National Communication Association, where she serves in various inclusion-related leadership capacities.
A 2004 Leadership Lancaster graduate and a 2019 YWCA Lancaster Woman of Achievement, Williams’s volunteer experiences support an ongoing commitment to inclusive practices in Lancaster County. She has also served on the executive boards of several community organizations and a Lancaster County, public school board.
Prior to her role at Penn State Berks, Dr. Williams was an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Eastern University. She has previously served as a reporter at Lancaster Newspapers and has worked at various non-profit organizations.
Dr. Williams earned a Ph.D. from Howard University in Communication and Culture, a master’s degree in Humanities from Penn State Harrisburg, and a baccalaureate degree in Communication Studies from West Chester University.
