Elizabethtown College Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Management and Director of the Family Business and Entrepreneurship Program Dr. Petru Sandu recently earned a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship for the spring of 2023.
Sandu will spend the 2023 spring semester at the University of Murcia in Spain, where he will have the opportunity to complete a family business research project and teach in Spanish in the MBA Program. Sandu is excited to explore the many amazing opportunities offered by the Fulbright Scholar Award.
“On the research side, the fit between my dedication to entrepreneurship and family business research and the ubiquity of family businesses as the backbone of the Spanish economy will provide me with many opportunities,” Sandu said. “On the teaching side, I have the opportunity to pursue my passion of teaching and engage the MBA students by building on my international teaching experience and ability to fathom the Spanish context due to my previous exposures to the country.”
Beyond the opportunities for academic advancement, Sandu is thrilled to continue exploring his love for Spain, its language, people, culture, and history.
“The thrill of discovering other cultures, building friendships, and broadening my cultural horizon has always been one of the greatest joys of my life,” Sandu said. “I’m particularly excited that Joe DePippo’76 who has been a guest speaker to my classes for the past 13 years, will also serve as a guest speaker for my students at the University of Murcia in Spring 2023. It is an example of the Blue Jay commitment and friendship at its best!”
Sandu said receiving his acceptance letter was a happy moment for everyone in my family, as they will be able to visit him while he’s in Spain.
The Fulbright Program is devoted to increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. Fulbright is the world’s largest and most diverse international educational exchange program.
