Elizabethtown College’s state-of-the-art Bowers Center for Sports, Fitness and Well-Being was selected as a 2022 National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) Outstanding Facility Award recipient.

The NIRSA Outstanding Facilities Awards recognize the innovative designs of new, renovated, or expanded collegiate recreational facilities of NIRSA Member Institutions. Etown was one of just 10 facilities across the country to earn this year’s accolade.

CannonDesign and High Construction were also recognized for their roles in the transformative space.

Whitney Crull, Director of the Bowers Center for Sports, Fitness and Well-Being, and Joni Eisenhaur, Assistant Director of Health Promotion accepted the award at the 2022 NIRSA Annual Conference and Campus Rec & Wellness Expo in Portland, Ore. on March 29-April 1.

“Joni and I were extremely honored to accept the 2022 Outstanding Facility Award at this year’s NIRSA National Conference,” Crull said. “This building has allowed us to expand our sports, fitness, and wellness offerings on campus and engage with more students and employees. The Bowers Center has served us well thus far and we can’t wait to see what the future holds!”

Etown’s dynamic Bowers Center opened in fall 2019 to offer the campus community a space to improve health, nutrition, and overall wellbeing goals.
