Elizabethtown College Dean of the School of Engineering, Math, and Computer Science, Sara Atwood, has recently been elected to the Engineering Deans Council Executive Board of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).

Atwood was elected by her peers, while attending the 2022 ASEE Engineering Deans Institute in Las Vegas, Nev. in early March.

The Engineering Deans Council is comprised of approximately 350 members and represents over 90 percent of all U.S. Engineering Deans. Atwood will serve on the council for two years, beginning at the close of the ASEE Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minn. in June 2022 and ending at the close of the ASEE Annual Conference in Portland, Ore. in June 2024.

“I’m honored to be selected by peer engineering deans across the country to help provide vision and leadership in engineering education, research, and engagement,” Atwood said. “Etown Engineering is at the forefront of innovating in engineering education and it means a lot to share our perspective as a small, teaching-focused program at the national level.”

While attending the 2022 ASEE Engineering Deans Institute, Atwood also presented a TED-talk style presentation focused on Etown Engineering’s innovative mastery-based curriculum to approximately 150 Engineering Deans from U.S. colleges and universities.
