Elizabethtown College Assistant Professor of Engineering and Physics Jean Batista Abreu was recently named a 2022-2023 Elizabethtown College Learning Design Faculty Fellow.
As part of his appointment, Batista Abreu will be working on his project, “Strategies and Tools to Strengthen Academic Integrity at Elizabethtown College,” where he will be developing a multilayered program that cultivates student success by promoting academic integrity and effectively preventing academic dishonesty. Batista Abreu will also be aiding in developmental mentoring to promote student success after academic dishonesty has occurred.
“I am honored to have the opportunity and support to help establish a more robust culture of academic integrity on campus,” Batista Abreu said. “We want our students to succeed; therefore, we are helping them understand and consciously adhere to the fundamental values to make sure they make the right decisions.
“It’s exciting to partner with the Teaching and Learning Design Studio, faculty colleagues, and students to execute this project and assess its impact.”
About Professor Batista Abreu
Batista Abreu earned his Ph.D. and M.S.E. at the Johns Hopkins University, M.S. at the University of Puerto Rico, and B.S.E. with Honors at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, all in Civil Engineering. Prior to joining Elizabethtown College, he served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Civil Engineering at Bucknell University, and worked as a Structural Engineer at Acero Estrella.
