Elizabethtown College alumna Morgan Popson ’18 is adding to Lancaster City’s vibrant art community with the recent opening of her downtown storefront Pop of Color Art – a curated retail space that showcases local artists, makers, and small businesses.

Popson, who majored in Psychology with a minor in Studio Art while at Etown, is the owner, primary artist, and friendly face behind the counter of the charming store located at 50 N. Queen St.

The mission of Pop of Color Art is to be able to provide local artists/makers/curators with an affordable platform to sell and promote their art in a space that feels collaborative. Popson is also supporting new student artists by showcasing their work for free and allowing them to keep 100% of their sales.

“Pop of Color Art is unique because the entire space feels less like separate vendors and more like a collective effort between all of our sellers,” explained Popson. “The space is completely curated and all the products have been chosen based on how well they fit into the store.”

Her chosen location for Pop of Color Art was an easy one to make. As a student at Etown, Popson gained a love for Lancaster City after countless trips into the downtown area with friends.

She credits the Art Department with helping to build her skills and learn new techniques.

“I felt incredibly supported by the faculty in the Elizabethtown College Art Department and gained a lot of confidence in my abilities,” said Popson. “Overall, my experiences at Etown helped me become independent and well-rounded.”
