Elizabethtown College has announced that upcoming large-scale events including the 2020 Commencement Ceremony and Homecoming and Family Weekend will not be held this October as previously scheduled. The graduation ceremony to honor the Class of 2020 has been rescheduled for the weekend of May 15 and 16. This weekend will include two separate Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2020 as well as the Class of 2021. The 2020 Homecoming and Family Weekend has been canceled and will resume in the fall of 2021.
The announcement comes as state orders limit the College to holding outdoor events or large gatherings of no more than 250 people and indoor events with no more than 25 people.
“One of the significant components of our community experience is the ability to hold events on campus,” said President Cecilia M. McCormick, J.D. “The College fully understands and supports hosting academic, social, and community events as they are integral to the success of our students. However, state mandates have altered the way in which we are able to gather during the fall semester. We are very much looking forward to next year and know our Blue Jay family will be ready to celebrate together once again.”
