Elizabethtown College senior links art with occupational therapy in compelling exhibit

Emily Buss, a senior occupational therapy student at Elizabethtown College has found a way to link a passion for art and occupational therapy to demonstrate the importance of expression and function.

“In this field, I have the opportunity to use art as therapeutic treatments and make a lasting impact on individuals’ lives,” Buss said. “With this exhibit, I hope to accomplish my goals of exploring the main reasons people value their hand function and inspiring them to learn more about occupational therapy.”

On Monday, March 30 through Thursday, April 9, Buss will present her original art exhibit titled “Through our Hands.” The exhibit will be displayed on the main floor of the High Library at Elizabethtown College between 7:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The purpose of the display is to highlight the vitality of hands in humans and demonstrate the value behind them. There will be a drop box at the event for viewers to respond to their reflection of hands.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.
