E-town is a campus centered around supporting others, and that is exactly what the new True Blue series is all about. Started by President McCormick in the fall semester of 2019, the True Blue series is an exciting initiative between Athletics and Student Life meant to build a community through sports on campus. True Blue games are specifically-designated home competitions for our teams where the campus community can all come together to show their E-town spirit while supporting their fellow students and athletics staff. Each True Blue game begins with a special giveaway for the first 50 students, faculty, or staff supporters. Past giveaways have included rally towels, t-shirts, hats, and gloves.

True Blue games are not chosen at random but are geared towards more high-profile games against a rival or strong competitor. “You know it will be a good game to come out for,” says Zac Pace, Assistant Director of Student Activities. “True Blue is all about E-town and what it means to be in this community. The series highlights events the school is already hosting and bring the campus community together to support our student-athletes.”

The series picked back up this spring with the Men’s Basketball game on Jan. 18 and Swimming on Jan. 31 with great turnouts for each. It will continue throughout the semester with seven more events.

“Hopefully more students came last semester who wouldn’t normally come to sports games,” says Chris Morgan, Director of Athletics, “and hopefully they’ll come back. It’s really cool for fellow students to come out and cheer the athletes on,” Morgan shares. “It goes a bit deeper than seeing their family in the stands.”
