On Wednesday, Oct. 23, Elizabethtown College President Cecilia M. McCormick, J.D. celebrated the week of inauguration with a food drive event. The College’s 15th president partnered with the Elizabethtown Borough community to organize the food drive and donated items to the Community Cupboard of Elizabethtown and Elizabethtown Community Housing & Outreach Services (ECHOS).
“It was important for me to connect the inaugural activities to our College motto, Educate for Service,” President McCormick said. “The Food Drive engages our students, faculty, and staff in helping others in need while staying grounded in our mission. Food insecurity is a concern in our Elizabethtown community, and I am thrilled that our College and greater-E-town community can come together to support one another.”
E-town students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community donated more than 1,200 items. The group also donated $500 to the organizations that supply resources to low-income families.
