Dr. Ed Frick, in collaboration with Dr. William Frick, University of Oklahoma and Dr. Jim Parson, University of Alberta, will have a manuscript published in Interchange: A Quarterly Review of Education in November. The title of the article is: Disarming privilege to achieve equitable school communities: A spiritually-attuned school leadership response to our storied lives. Given the topic, we are excited to get this particular piece out for others to see and hopefully use.
“American Roots,” a solo exhibition of paintings by Jeff Bye, Adjunct Professor of Drawing and Painting at Elizabethtown College and Penn State, is on view at Greenhut Galleries in Portland, Maine from October 3-26, 2019. Bye’s show was enthusiastically reviewed by Zest Magazine and American Art Collector which wrote. “Pennsylvania-based artist Jeff Bye portrays the raw, gritty side of city life, often beautiful in its own intrinsic ways.”
Dr. Oya Dursun-Ozkanca, Professor of Political Science, took part in the Clarke Forum for Contemporary Issues panel titled, “Brexit: Where It Stands, What It Means” on October 2nd at 7 pm at Dickinson College. The video of the panel is available at http://www.clarkeforum.org/category/events/.

Dr. Shorner-Johnson published an article “Embracing hospitality through Puerto Rican Bomba y Plena” in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Journal. The article reflects upon the College’s Latina/o diversity initiative and imagines how new forms of musical hospitality might meet challenges of climate change.
Dr. Shorner-Johnson recently published on his podcasting work about “Building Musical Imaginations” as he linked his work exploring choirs within prison contexts with the work of building ideas of womanhood within women’s choirs. Both contexts, have much to teach us about empathy and the restorative power of imagining possible selves.

Terri Dennehy, DEd, OTR/L and Janeene Sibla, OTD, OTR/L (Univ. of Mary, Bismarck, ND) gave a platform presentation at the American Occupational Therapy Education Summit in Las Vegas, NV on Oct. 19, 2019. The title of their presentation was, “Academic Intraprofessional Collaboration: Empiricism to Practice Content Focus: Signature Pedagogies.”
