Step into a fascinating display of artwork with a creative twist at Elizabethtown College this fall. An exhibit of artwork by Elizabethtown College students will be showcased in the College’s Leffler Chapel and Performance Center beginning Thursday, Sept. 26 and runs through Sunday, Dec. 15.
Elizabethtown College anatomy and physiology students will present an array of artwork that combines bodily systems, such as the circulatory and respiration systems, and fine art in a unique fashion. The display of artwork uses a variety of household objects, such as dining supplies, clothing, books, and toys, as well as paint and ceramics to demonstrate the functions of the human body. The multimedia arrangement is designed for educational purposes as it celebrates the connection of the human body and craftsmanship.
The college students are influenced by the STEAM movement, which combines ideas of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics to invoke critical thinking. The exhibit is also accompanied by the Anatomy in Art Project: Exploring Anatomy in Everyday Life, which serves as a resource for many educators and artists worldwide.
“I hope this exhibit inspires people to learn more about the incredible anatomy all around them, inside and out,” said Associate Professor of Biology, Anya Goldina.
Assistant Professor in Education Peter Licona, Associate Professor of History of Art and director of the Department of Fine Arts Patricia Likos Ricci and Goldina collaborated to organize this creative exhibit.
The exhibit will be open Sept. 26 through Dec. 15 at the following times:
- Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
